Emerging from beneath a pile of Garage records and battered kicks to become one of the country’s most sought-after disc jockeys, Brackles now commands as much respect in the studio as he does in the dance.
It is Brackles’ skills behind the 1210s that really drives his music; every beat is informed by an in-depth knowledge of the dancefloor, and high profile mixes for FACT magazine, XLR8R and radio DJs including Mary Anne Hobbs, Sinden and Toddla T have earned him worldwide recognition as one of the scene’s foremost tastemakers.
Early this year, he and Shortstuff formed the much-hyped Blunted Robots imprint – signing one of the year’s biggest hybrid tracks in Martin Kemp’s No Charisma – embodying the lairy, acid-drenched silliness of the pair’s music and cementing Brackles’ place at the forefront of UK Bass music in 2009.
